Bitcoin SIP Calculator
Plan your Bitcoin Systematic Investment Plan. Calculate projected returns for weekly or monthly recurring investments with growth scenarios and comparison charts.
A Bitcoin Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) automatically invests a fixed rupee or dollar amount on a recurring schedule — typically monthly. The calculator backtests your SIP across CoinGecko's full price history, showing total invested, total BTC accumulated, average buy price, and current portfolio value. SIPs in BTC have historically outperformed lump-sum entries during bear markets by smoothing volatility.

What Is a Bitcoin SIP and How Does It Work?
A Bitcoin SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) means investing the same fixed amount in Bitcoin at a fixed interval, such as every week or every month, whatever the price is that day. In India the term SIP comes from mutual funds; in the US and Europe the same idea is usually called dollar cost averaging, or DCA.
Because the amount stays fixed, the number of satoshis you receive changes with the price. When Bitcoin is expensive, your fixed amount buys fewer sats. When it is cheap, the same amount buys more. Over many purchases, this means your average cost per coin ends up at or below the simple average of the prices on your purchase dates. That result follows from the maths of buying a fixed amount (it is the harmonic mean of the prices), not from a forecast.
A SIP does not guarantee a profit. If the price falls and stays low, you still hold a loss. What it removes is the need to pick the right day, which reduces timing risk and makes investing a habit. The Bitcoin SIP Calculator above shows how your monthly amount, time period and assumed growth rate combine. To test the same idea on real historical prices, try the Bitcoin DCA Calculator.
Bitcoin SIP vs Mutual Fund SIP: How They Compare
Both approaches invest a fixed amount on a schedule, but the asset underneath behaves very differently. Over the five years from 2019, a monthly Bitcoin SIP produced far larger swings than an index fund SIP. There were years where it was well ahead and months where it was deep in loss. An equity index fund SIP moved more gently. The table below compares the main features rather than exact returns, because returns depend heavily on your start date.
In India, gains on Bitcoin are taxed as virtual digital assets at a flat 30% plus 4% cess, with 1% TDS on sales above the threshold, and losses cannot be set off against other income. Equity mutual funds are taxed at lower capital gains rates. Enter your own amount above to compare scenarios.
| Feature | Bitcoin SIP | Index Fund SIP (e.g. NIFTY 50) |
|---|---|---|
| Historical return range | Very wide: large gains and deep drawdowns | Moderate, closer to long-run equity growth |
| Volatility | Very high, 50%+ falls have happened several times | Lower, typical falls are smaller |
| Liquidity | Trades 24/7 on exchanges | Redeemed on business days |
| Tax in India | 30% flat plus cess, 1% TDS, no loss set-off | Equity capital gains rates |
| Regulation | KYC exchanges, evolving rules | SEBI-regulated funds |

Does the Day of the Week Matter for a Bitcoin SIP?
Several backtests shared online suggest that buying on certain weekdays, often Monday, collected slightly more Bitcoin than other days over some multi-year periods. A common explanation is that weekend trading is thinner, so prices sometimes dip before institutional volume returns early in the week.
Treat this as a historical pattern, not an edge. The size of the effect changes with the period you test, it can disappear once many people act on it, and it is small next to the effect of staying consistent for years. Choosing a day that matches your salary date, and never missing a purchase, will matter far more than which weekday you pick.
Where to Set Up an Automated Bitcoin SIP
Most large exchanges now offer recurring buys. In the US, commonly used services include Swan Bitcoin, which is Bitcoin-only, Strike, which uses the Lightning Network, and River. In India, recurring buy or SIP features are offered by exchanges such as CoinDCX, Mudrex and Zebpay. In the UK and Europe, Coinbase and several other exchanges offer recurring purchases.
These names are neutral examples, not recommendations, and features change often. Before you choose, compare the trading fee on each purchase, the spread between buy and sell prices, the minimum amount, and whether you can withdraw to your own wallet. All regulated platforms require KYC identity checks. In India, remember the 30% tax and 1% TDS apply however you buy.
If you invest a fixed amount of satoshis instead of rupees or dollars, the Stack Sats Goal Tracker helps you plan a target. For a single lump sum, compare results with the Bitcoin Investment Calculator.
